Rafa has vowed the club are doing all they can to keep midfielder Javier Mascherano at Anfield. This is heartening news. I see Mascherano as our answer to Roy Keane. We need a midfielder that can win balls in the middle of the field. The Argentine has been the subject of much speculation due to the complex nature of his deal on Merseyside, whereby the Reds have to pay a reported 17million pounds to buy him outright.
